Never understood the appeal of special Olympics-style (i.e., the best X in Y demo) sports. It's hard for me to care about any of these freaks. Of course Steve can make anything interesting (even golf). Great post, thanks!

I've overheard random people on several occasions say something along the lines of "o this girl is getting this treatment just because she's white," which even say five years ago would have been a fringe view restricted to internet comments sections and not the normie default assumption of your average suburban GOP voter

My wife and her twin got a full ride scholarship at the best basketball school in Mexico. They ended up leaving the team after a year because they got so much grief for being feminine and fair-skinned (which got interpreted as coming from money). Amazing how similar the dynamics are in Mexico

Does anyone have a substack link with instructions for bolding, italicizing, quote blocking etc in reader comments? Strangely hard to find. I did get instructions from its chat function, for example, this is how to _italicize_. But that instruction fails to italicize.

Reading a non-woke book about the Bushmen, _The Old Way_. Instead of saying that something is caused by biological inheritance the author says, "we are imbued by Gaia with this feature."

Worth emulation and development.
